Preliminary Earth And Environmental Science; Starter plans + ideas!

The local environment which i have chosen to do my research task on is Centennial Park, in the Moore park region of sydney(There is a map for reference linked to this blog).

The Parklands are listed on the State Heritage Register of NSW, and is listed as having national, state or local heritage significance. It is estimated between 10 and 15 million visits are made to the Parklands every year. Centennial Park is a man made park and is used for recreation such as bike ridding, picnics and sporting games.

My plan is to choose one of the main ponds in the park. I will take 6 samples throughout the project. I will take 3 samples from 3 different parts of the park. Probably from opposite ends and a secluded/'leass affected area' by humans impacts. I will do this twice on different days/weather conditions. The samples will include water samples and soil samples.

The aim of this research task is to establish the effects of human influences on an area. I will find out how polluted the area is and suggest strategies to counter  these influences.

I am still weighing up the option in which pond i shall be sampling but am most likely going to decide on the day which pond is a suitable candidate.

  1. Good, keen start Tim!
I'd suggest the big duck pond that cuts across the park, where the coffee van is open on weekends, know the one I mean?
